The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The interior canvas stained and discoloured, the canvas is buckling in places, watermarks along the corners, rust marks from pins, rust marks and staining along the hinge, the canvas on the base has been replaced, the padded lid with several broken taping straps, a few brown and red stains, discolouration to the brass studs, the canvas peeling in places; the exterior in good general condition with several dents, scuffs and scratches, the leather has several areas of dark discolouration which give a pleasent appearance, a small loss of leather to the front above lock, the sides and corners with scuffs and wear; the handles both in good condition, with discolouration through use; the leather to some of the sides is slighly loose; the brass has been polished to a mirror finish, the exterior has a slight shine; canvas bottom has been replaced with new canvas on top of original.
