Photographed with the 250mm telephoto lens and a Sun elevation of 22° from an altitude of 98 km above the surface, an oblique view looking west (forward) and a near vertical view of the steep western wall of the 84-km Crater Lobachevsky in deep lunar shadow.
Latitude / longitude: 9.5° N / 111.5° E.

“The thing that impressed me about the Moon is how different regions are so different. Now they all look the same to the geophysicist. But they sure look different to the people that are orbiting close in. Every little crater’s got a different characteristics. And it’s sure hard to pick out till you get down there and really look at ‘em.”
John Young (Chaikin, Voices, p. 42)

A photograph from magazine 119/RR taken looking south from an altitude of 120 km toward the lunar nearside horizon with the 250mm telephoto lens.
The 49-km Crater Almanon is cut off in the left foreground; the 45-km Crater Geber is in the center. Latitude / longitude: 19.8° S / 14.3° E.

A superb photograph looking south southwest taken with magazine 119/RR and the 250mm telephoto lens from an altitude of 123 km showing the 61-km Crater Bullialdus in the Sea of Clouds and the 26-km and 21-km Craters Bullialdus A and B beyond.
The southwestern rim of the Sea of Clouds is in the background.
The relatively isolated location of Bullialdus highlights its well-formed shape with a polygonal appearance and terraced inner walls.
In the center of the crater is a formation of several peaks and rises that climb to over 1 km in height.
Latitude / longitude: 22.3° S / 21.7° W.

197:24:55 Peterson (Mission Control): Okay, Ken. In about 15 seconds, you should be north of Bullialdus, and we’ll have you go to f/5.6 at that point.
197:25:10 Duke: Hey, right now, I’m just passing Lassell C, looking straight down.
197:25:14 Peterson: Roger.
197 25 56 Peterson: Okay, Ken. Go to 5.6 as you get up - a beam of Bullialdus.
197:26:09 Mattingly: Okay. Abeam Bullialdus; I’ll go to 5.6.
197:26:12 Peterson: Roger.
