The present timepiece was part of a capsule collection of watches made to mark the 175th anniversary of the founding of A. Lange & Söhne. All the watches in the collection were made using the brand's proprietary gold alloy – Honeygold which is harder than conventional 18k gold cases.

Honeygold is created by alloying gold with silicon, along with other metals, thus creating a much harder metal. Lange is very selective in deploying Honeygold cases in its product catalogue, only a few watches in regular production feature this proprietary alloy which has a distinct sheen.

The watch is further distinguished by a pristine enamel dial, another rarity on a Lange timepiece. Enamel dials are usually reserved for the brand's more complicated watches like the 1815 Tourbillon, the Langematik Anniversary edition in platinum or the Grand Complication (the most complicated wristwatch made by the German maison).

Lange movements have also been lauded for their architecture, construction, and impeccable array of hand-finishing techniques. The present manual-winding movement also boasts of a special decoration as compared to regular production models. The movement has a frosted finish on the three-quarter plate and engraving on the dial and balance cock that is filled with grey lacquer. The result is an attractive and beautifully hand-finished movement.
