Lot Essay

Launched in the 1990s, the Edward Piguet collection is named after one of the two founding fathers of the manufacture - Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet. This family of watches borrow their design aesthetic from a historic tank design wristwatch that the brand made in the 1920s.

The Art Deco inspiration is evident in the curved rectangular case that is elegant and sophisticated. The dial is perfectly balanced and the gilt printing really stands out against the matte black dial. Complicated and extremely elegant, the ‘Quantième Perpétuel’ is the perfect timepiece for both daytime and evening.

Founded in 1875 by Jules Audemars and Edward-August Piguet, the Swiss manufacture known today as Audemars Piguet is part of the rare fine watch-making companies still held by the families of their founding partners. This particular watch retailed for £49,500 in 2016.
