Lot Essay

Recognized as one of the most renowned master watchmakers in the world, architect of the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon, Eric Coudray is the man behind indie brand Cabestan. For the Trapezium, he combined exceptional aesthetics with incomparable mechanics - the chain and fusée system compensates for the loss of torque of the mainspring and deliver a constant force to the tourbillon escapement.

And due to its ingenious vertical positioning, Trapezium’s tourbillion compensates exceptionally well for the variations due to the effects of the Earth’s gravity. The present watch is one of only 135 examples produced in a limited series of the Cabestan Trapezium model. The last retail price known is $250,000.
