Lot Essay

The Senator Classic Perpetual Calendar was introduced in 1999 and was distinctly different from every other perpetual calendar that had come before it. The calendar indications were displayed via elegant windows instead of the more customary circular displays.
Glashütte Original, like its illustrious neighbour A. Lange & Söhne, are known for their classically-styled mechanical watches.

So the introduction of an orthodox complication like a perpetual calendar with moon-phase indication in a high-tech black ceramic case was a bit of revelation from the brand in the 2010s. The use of scratch-resistant matte black ceramic and a matching black dial and strap gives the watch an almost stealth appearance. The watch is powered by Cal. 100-07, an automatic movement with a 21k gold-tipped rotor, a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting, and a swan-neck regulator.

An attractive mix of the traditional and modern, the watch is in excellent condition and is presented with the original box and papers.
