Launched in 1968, the Camaro was named after the iconic American muscle car, the Chevrolet Camaro. The Ref. 7220 was the longest-running Camaro model and was produced right up until 1972 when Heuer started to focus on the automatic chronograph models.

Unlike the Carrera, the Camaro had a more masculine, cushion-shaped case that was 37-mm-wide. Legend has it that Jack Heuer named the Camaro after the famous muscle car in a move to align the brand with motorsport in the United States. After all, the Camaro Super Sport was the official pace car of the Indianapolis 500 from 1967 to 1969.

The present watch, the Ref. 7220 T is the third execution of the dial and is characterised by its panda layout and the black tachymeter flange. The watch is powered by Valjoux 72, the same movement used in the Daytona and Carrera. It features a 30-minute chronograph register at 3 o’ clock, a 12-hour chronograph register at 6 and running seconds at 9.
