Lot Essay

The present reference 79180 is one of the exceedingly few examples of a Tudor watch fitted with a prototype dial.
Without a doubt the 1990s can be considered as Tudor’s peak years of experimenting with coloured dials. The present watch is one of the rare examples to appear in public and moreover one of the rarest variants featuring a highly attractive guilloché electric blue dial. It is today known that these dials were never chosen to go into regular production, rendering this the present prototype a rare witness for this unusual design study.
