Lot Essay

Saul Holiff (1925-2005) was a concert promoter, producer, and talent manager. Holiff was best known as the personal manager to singer-songwriter, Johnny Cash, and for pairing Cash with June Carter. Cash proposed to Carter in Holiff's hometown of London, Ontario--a scene famously recreated in the movie "Walk The Line" (2005).

Purchased by Holiff to celebrate the signing of Johnny Cash to a management contract, this watch is engraved “S.I.H. NOV. 61” and comes with its original presentation box. A photograph of Holiff wearing the watch with Johnny Cash and June Carter is shown with the photographs of this lot.
