The present Eska wristwatch, produced between 1949 and 1953, is exceptionally attractive. The pink gold case is in excellent overall condition, harmonizing with the colorful and vibrant cloisonné enamel scene.
The dial was likely produced by one of the enamel artists that were working mostly for Stern Freres. Executed with extreme clarity and attention to detail, enamel dials of this kind were scarcely produced as of their challenging nature and the long process time.

During this period, two kinds of enamels were produced for Eska. The first with a narrower diameter enamel center section and the hour markers placed on a blank chapter ring. The second kind, like the present watch, are enameled using the full diameter of the dial and the markers are fitted to the enamel. This allows the depicted scene more space and room for appreciation by the wearer.
A typical allegorical scene used during this period, we see a figure on a boat at sea, surrounded by blue skies, deep blue sea, orange fish and prominent sunshine. The scene could represent Ulysees resisting the Siren’s call, the fish shown with open mouth indicating sound.
