Lot Essay

Known by collectors as the “monodate”, Patek Philippe's standard reference 3445 is considered as one of the most convincing and timeless designs ever created for any wristwatch. It is free of any decoration and was never intended to be fashionable. On the contrary, with a production spanning two full decades it has proven to withstand passing trends and the ever changing moods of consumers. Consequently, it comes as no surprise that reference 3445 was made in all different colors of gold but also, in an extremely small quantity, in platinum. Reference 3445, Patek Philippe's first calendar watch made in series, was in production from 1961 to 1981.
