Still frustrated with his publisher’s promotion—or lack of—for The Favorite Game, he considers other avenues to supplement his income as a writer. He has, however, "a bit of good news"—he won $500 for his poem “Opium and Hitler” and immediately asks Marianne, “Would you like to come over right away?”

He discusses his work at Orion Films with his friend Robert Hershorn: “You’ll have to come here pretty soon because I’m going to write a film and you’re going to be the star. I’m serious. Hershorn is willing to put up the money. Montreal is going to be the great centre of the film in five years.” Holiday Magazine has invited him to "do something on Canada," but despite the fact that they "pay a lot" he does not "really want to get into journalism."

He closes, "Montreal weather is beautiful. I wish you were here and we could go for a walk this afternoon. Do you want to come now?"
