Le tableau a préservé de jolis traces de dessin sous-jacent dans les carnations et le crâne.

Il est exécuté sur un panneau de bois ayant été aminci et parqueté. L'ensemble est stable.

A l'oeil nu, on constate des retouches ayant viré dans les fonds et les carnations. Les couches de matière supérieures dans les tons bruns ont été amincies.

A la lumière rasante, on constate des anciennes inscriptions dans les fonds, à la droite du putto, ayant été recouvertes par le passé.

A l'UV, l'examen confirme la présence des anciennes inscriptions susmentionnées et en révèle d'autres à la gauche du putto. On constate d'importantes restaurations liées à une jointure de planches verticale au centre de la composition. Les carnations, le sol et le fond ont fait l'objet d'importantes restaurations. Le tableau est sous un vernis épais, non homogène, empêchant de constater d'autres campagnes de restauration antérieures.

The painting has preserved lovely traces of underlying drawing in the skin tones and skull.

It is executed on a wooden panel that has been thinned and cradled. The whole is stable.

In natural light retouching can be seen in the backgrounds and skin tones. The upper glazes in the brown tones have been thinned.

In raking light old inscriptions in the backgrounds to the right of the putto can be seen, which have been covered over in the past.

UV examination confirms the presence of the above-mentioned old inscriptions and reveals others to the left of the putto. Significant restorations can be seen in a vertical panel join in the center of the composition. The skin, ground and background have been extensively restored. The painting is under a thick, non-homogeneous varnish, making it impossible to identify any previous restoration campaigns.
