Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. Il est sur un châssis rapporté à clés. Le support est stable.
A l'oeil nu, le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage récent. On ne constate pas de restaurations ayant viré, excepté dans les bruns et quelques reprises dans les bleus.
A l'UV, on constate des retouches récentes le long des bords, un peu plus débordantes le long du bord inférieur. Celles-ci font probablement suite au frottement du cadre. On constate des retouches ponctuelles dans le ciel et quelques restaurations horizontales et verticales dans et autour de la tunique de l'archange. On constate aussi des restaurations ponctuelles dans la partie inférieure, dans les bruns. Certaines parties bleues, notamment dans les ailes, semblent avoir été rechargées. Le tableau a été nettoyé par endroits, avec des traces de vieux vernis dans les parties sombres.
Dans un cadre en bois et stuc dorés (approx. 157 x 125 cm.).

The canvas has been subject to recent relining; it is held under tension on a new stretcher with keys to the corners, the whole is stable.
In natural light some minor retouching can be seen in the browns, which have slightly discoloured, and there are some retouchings in the blues of the wings and costume of the angel. Overall the strength of the composition and the depth of colour remain fully appreciable.
Examination under UV light confirms these observations. It further reveals recent retouching to the canvas edges, especially to the lower edge, these are probably due to historic frame abrasion. There is some scattered retouching in the sky and around the angel’s tunic. The painting has been cleaned I certain areas, though traces of old varnish remain in the darker areas of the composition. The paint remains stable.
