The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The work is hinged in places on the reverse to its underlying support and is undulating slightly. There are creases to the lower corners. There are further scattered soft creases in the lower right quadrant. There are minor losses to the left of the upper horizontal extreme edge, left vertical extreme edge and near the lower left corner. There is a minor repaired tear near the lower left corner. There is an abrasion near the eye of the figure in the upper left quadrant. There is a minor media strike-through in the black passage to the centre of composition, presumably in keeping with the artist's working method. There are pinpoint scattered accretions. There are very fine hairline cracks in places and watermarks, presumably in keeping with the artist's working method. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
