The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate.
Good overall condition.
There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and rubbing due to age and use.
One giltbronze element at the top of the lyre is missing, certainly a five-branch star compared to another example of the model.
Gilding: with minor traces of stains, dents and a traces of a previous label to the left side.
Traces of tarnishing especially to the plane surfaces.
Dial: with bumps, dents, flaking areas and a restoration with white painting near the II and the III.
The hands of the dial with traces of oxidation. Certainly originally with a glass protection.
Certainly originally with a metal plate at the back to hide the movement.
The patina in good overall condition despite some very minor rubbed areas as expected.
Please note that this condition report has been written from a work of art and not a time-measuring object point of view. Therefore, this lot has to be checked by a professional clockmaker.
Structurally secure but heavy.
Otherwise very impressive and monumental clock.
