Calendar for the Pacific Transport Lines, 1953
Comprising twelve woodblock prints, one for each month, each mounted to a card calendar printed with Pacific Transport Lines, Inc., ring attachments at the top so that the pages can be turned
Each print signed in Japanese Hasui and with printed signature in Roman script, Hasui Kawase and titled as follows:

January: Shiba Park, Tokyo
February: Skirt of Mount Fuji
March: Ueno Park, Tokyo
April: Bamboo Forrest, Tama River
May: Himeji Castle
June: Arasiyama, Kyoto
July: Inland Sea
August: Enoshima Island
September: Nara
October: Nara Park
November: Lake Towada
December: Chusonji Temple
The calendar 36.5 x 42.4
(each print 25.7 x 38cm.)

500 copies of this calendar were commissioned by the Pacific Transport Lines for distribution in the United States. It is known that Hasui did not usually undertake this type of work, but that it seems that he became quite absorbed in the project, striving to portray a true sense of the Japanese landscape.
