The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting presents well overall. The canvas has a glue lining and a clear varnish. Minor abrasions along the extreme edges are hidden by the remit of the frame. A small loss has been delicately repaired in the background near the red cloak below torch at lower right. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some additional minor retouching at the extreme edges and in the sky. The painting is ready to hang.
