The canvas is wax lined and tacked over a new stretcher. There appears to be a 4 in. vertical hairline scratch in the rocks at lower left and a minor surface abrasion along the right lower edge. Under ultraviolet light, an area of inpainting surrounding the girl's head, possibly addressing pentimenti in the area, and an uneven, discolored varnish.
