拍品专文

This rare still-life study of two pheasants dates from late in Millais’s career, painted around 1875. It represents the artist’s favourite pursuits in Scotland – painting and shooting, although the tangible results of his shooting were rarely committed to canvas.

We are grateful to Dr Malcolm Warner for his assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
