SENDAK, Maurice (1928-2012). Literary Feast, original pen and ink and watercolor drawing on paper, signed and dated (“Maurice Sendak April 83”) lower right, 1983.

152 x 94mm image size on larger sheet, matted and framed.

A fabulous Sendak drawing, likely made for the "Reading is Fundamental" campaign. Bernard ("the same "Wild Thing" who appears on the cover of Sendak's famous book) prepares to feast on a stack of books. The titles reflect some of Sendak's own favorite children's books: the spines read "Randolph Caldecott," "Grimm," The Pirate Twins," and, of course, "Where the Wild Things Are."
