The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. Il est sur un châssis rapporté, à clefs.
A l'oeil nu, on constate que les coins supérieurs ont été agrandis pour être mis au rectangle. On constate de vieux repeints ayant viré dans le ciel et les nuages. Le tableau préserve de jolis glacis dans les éléments de nature morte, les poussins, les animaux. Le tableau est sous un vernis blanchâtre qui pourrait bénéficier d'un léger nettoyage.
L'examen à la lumière UV révèle des retouches ponctuelles dans la partition et un peu plus débordantes dans le ciel. On ne constate pas de retouches récentes sur les animaux. Le tableau est sous un vernis ancien, épais, uniforme dissimulant des campagnes de restaurations antérieures.

The painting has been relined, it is held under correct tension on a keyed stretcher.
In natural light, it can be seen that the upper corners have been enlarged in order to make the composition rectangular. There is old retouching in the sky and clouds that has discoloured over time. The painting retains some beautiful glazes in the still-life elements, the chicks and the animals. The painting is under a slightly cloudy varnish and might benefit from a light clean.
Examination under UV light reveals retouching in the musical score and somewhat more extensive retouching in the sky. No recent retouching is visible on the animals. The painting is covered by an old, thick, even varnish that precludes a more in depth examination.
