Reference 6263
Launched in the 1970s, the reference 6263 is the sister reference of the 6265. Inheriting attributes of reference 6240, the chronograph bears the “Oyster” designation on the upper-half of its dial and is built with a black bezel graduated to 200 units per hour, screw-down pushers, a screw back and screw-down crown. With the upgraded mechanical Valjoux caliber 727, succeeding caliber 722-1, the wristwatch was made in steel, 14 and 18 karat gold and it is estimated that over a 20 year period, only 24,000 reference 6263 and 6265 were produced in stainless steel.

The dial of the present lot features the rare Sigma symbol on either side of the “T Swiss T” designation. The symbol indicates that the baton numerals and hands on a dial were made of gold, in this case, white.
