The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue description:
- with 2 mm. margins on three sides, a 3-4 mm. margin below.
- some shading added in pen and brown and grey wash in places, mainly on the back of the head and right cheek, on his right body and occasionally elsewhere.
- some pale brown light-staining.
- two horizontal printer's creases at upper left, and a vertical one at lower center to the right.
- the lower left sheet corner made up, with a small patch inside the platemark, the upper left sheet corner with a small made-up loss, the upper right corner slightly disturbed, with tiny additions in pen and brown ink.
- a few pinpoint rust marks in places.
- inscribed in W 17 / 2-2 in brown ink verso.
- other smaller defects.
