The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This large and impressive table is in good overall condition.
The whole is a little faded, especially to the right-hand end.
There is the expected minor shrinkage cracking and movement throughout. The impressive single piece top with very slight undulation and minor growth flaw to the underside which is visible to the right-hand end and has resulted in slight closed, stable cracking running in from that edge. Minor stable cracking and small tip repair to the front right-hand corner of the top.
The top has been cleaned and repolished at some time and has a pleasing warm hue with some scattered dark marks and one faint pot ring to the center. There is a slight shadow to the rear edge suggesting that there was a (unrelated, later) super structure sitting on the top at one time but it does not appear to have been affixed. There is also an unobtrusive slight closed crack running along the back edge from the left hand back corner.
The base retains a darker colour and deeper pleasing patina built up over time. The front legs originally with moulded bands under the roundels to the top of the legs, now lacking. The frame is firm.
Scattered apparently inactive worm holes to some of the softwood structural timbers.
The back legs a little slighter by design but apparently original.
Overall minor marks, knocks, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
This substantial table is in generally good structural, decorative and usable order.
