The sheets are hinged at the upper corners to the backing boards and undulate slightly. Pinholes are occasionally to the corners, presumably due to the artist's working method. A few minute spots of discoloration are visible occasionally to the margins. A few minute accretions are occasionally to the second element, visible in both natural and under ultraviolet light. Under ultraviolet light, some of the elements exhibit areas of distinct fluorescence to the margins, which appear to be related to the artist's working method and do not appear to be inpainting. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.

The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair, and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
