“Key to the series was the notion of surrogate friend; be it the computer pet, digitally produced and in need of no nose or ears, or an animal of some sort, these creatures would be happy to see you at any time…People like to be happy, like to be around a laughing person, as pleasure is something we all understand and share. Yet constant exposure may lead into uncharted waters. One side effect of being around pure optimism and happiness for the viewer can be mood swings, anxiety, and depression.” – Tony Oursler
