“I was never engaged with making the perfect print I’m much more interested in photography as a place where picture-making or a discourse on images intersects with reality and also in the glitches and the noise that the different kinds of technologies produce.” – Walead Beshty
In an age of digital images, Beshty turns to a technology of nostalgia. Using one of the earliest photographic processes, Walead Beshty takes cyanotype treated sheets and then folds each sheet before exposing it to varying degrees of Los Angeles sunlight. Thus, each sheet, such as the present lot, becomes a unique recording of Los Angeles' sunshine.
