Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de chêne, non parqueté. Le panneau est légèrement courbé, ce qui a entraîné des manques de matière le long de cette courbure. La matière a été récemment fixée afin que les pertes de matière ne s'agravent pas.

A l'oeil nu, le tableau possède une jolie matière avec de jolis glacis et effets de lumière. On constate cependant quelques retouches ponctuelles dans les fonds.

L'examen à la lampe UV révèle une ligne restauration récente le long de la jointure des deux planches ainsi que des retouches ponctuelles dans les fonds. Le tableau est sous un vernis avec des traces de vernis plus ancien dans la partie inférieure.

The painting is painted on an oak panel, which is uncradled. The panel is slightly curved, which has caused some paint loss along the curve. The paint has recently been stabilised to prevent further loss.
In natural light the painting presents very well, having retained a beautiful texture with lovely glazes and light effects. There is some minor scattered retouching in the background.
Examination under a UV lamp confirms the retouching to the background and further reveals a recent restoration line along the panel join. The painting is under a varnish with traces of an older varnish in the lower half.
