The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This elegant side cabinet is in good overall condition.
There are the inevitable marks, scratches and wear consistent of age and use.
The marble top with some wear and nibbling and minor chips to the edges, some minor marks and scratches to the top from use, the burr with veneers well retained, some minor shrinkage and hairline cracks in isolated areas and some small patched repairs for example to the top left corner of the frieze.
Some minor lifting and warping to the veneers to the sides, consistent with natural movement of the cabinet over time, some losses to the veneers to the plinth particularly the sides.
The gilt wood elements in good condition, some minor losses and wear to the gilding in very isolated places, showing the bole beneath.
The glazed doors possibly formerly with grill.
Red wash and chalk inscription to the back, AW 216.
The left of the plinth with two more noticeable marks, probably from associated repair.
Overall, presents well and is ready to place.
