The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is rubbing to the corners and some pinpoint paint losses to the upper horizontal edge and vertical edges. There are some linear abrasions near the lower horizontal edge. There are some handling marks to the lower left quadrant. There is an uneven varnish layer. There are scattered fibrous accretions, most visible to the red passages and edges, presumably from previous packaging material. There are three linear light brown media marks to the lower left and lower right of the composition. There is a minute fly spot in the lower centre of the composition. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
