The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. Il est sur un châssis rapporté, à clefs.
A l'oeil nu, on constate une zone importante de restauration sur la partie droite.Les repeints ont viré dans cette partie droite et on constate des retouches également dans les bruns, notamment à droite du chien couché, peut-être au niveau d'un ancien repentir.
L'examen à la lumière UV révèle quelques retouches plus récentes au niveau des jambes du chasseur et dans l'arbre à gauche (peut-être une ancienne déchirure) ainsi que dans les nuages.

The painting has been relined and is held under correct tension on a keyed stretcher.
In natural light, a significant area of restoration is visible on the right-hand side. The retouching in this area has discoloured, and further retouching is visible in the brown passages, particularly to the right of the recumbent dog, possibly corresponding to an earlier pentimento.
UV examination reveals some more recent retouching around the hunter’s legs and in the tree on the left (possibly corresponding to an old tear), as well as in the clouds.
