Hokkei designed other prints based on the work of the 17th century artist Hishikawa Moronobu, an example of which is in the collections of Harvard Art Museums/Arthur M. Sackler Museum, go to: http://www.harvardartmuseums.org/art/207564
Surimono were privately and expensively commissioned prints printed on slightly thicker presentation paper, which enabled special and more complex printing effects including blind embossing and use of metallic pigments. Yashima Gakutei and Totoya Hokkei were great exponents of this style of print which were often commissioned for poetry gatherings and the New Year.

Very good impression and colour. Light creasing and very minor soiling near edges and corners. Traces of glue and backing paper to the reverse along each edge.
