The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is a soft canvas draw in the lower left corner. Soft horizontal stretcher marks visible along the upper and lower edges and in the centre. Soft rubbing to the extreme edges and corners. Some soft abrasions in places. There is a very soft, horizontal, linear inpainting visible with the naked eye across the entire width of the painting in the lower area. There is soft, diagonal, linear inpainting visible with the naked eye of circa 30cm. in the upper right quadrant. Under ultraviolet light, few old retouchings fluoresce along the edges in places, most notably in the lower left corner. There is soft staining in places. Signs of wear and usage to the frame, including abrasions; most notably there is a loss to the frame along the left lower horizontal edge. Frame is slightly loose in places. It is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
