Zippin was a black-and-tan terrier belonging to Lady Harriet Leveson-Gower (later Countess of Ellesmere). A small oil study of Zippin standing over a stoat, dated 1826, was included in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Tate Gallery exhibition, Sir Edwin Landseer, 1982, no. 54. Landseer frequently drew both his own and his friends' dogs.
