The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The work has not been examined outside of its frame. The sheet is hinged to the backing board intermittently along the upper and lower edges and undulates slightly. Two artist's pinholes are to the upper right and left corner tips, and the edges of the sheet are deckled. Handling marks, soft creases, and tiny fibrous accretions are occasional, all in keeping with the artist's choice of medium and working method. A faint linear abrasion is to a black charcoal passage in the upper left quadrant. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.
