La toile a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. Elle est maintenue sous tension sur un châssis à clés et reste stable. Le processus de rentoilage a aplati la surface picturale.
L'examen à la lumière naturelle révèle quelques retouches dans les fonds à gauche et à droite du modèle, qui ont légèrement viré. Un fin réseau de craquelures est visible, notamment dans les passages plus clairs, tels que la robe du modèle. La matière reste stable.
L'examen sous lumière UV révèle des retouches relativement larges et étendues dans les fonds à droite du modèle et dans le coin inférieur gauche. The canvas has been subject to relining, it is held under tension on a keyed stretcher and remains stable. The relining process has flattened the paint surface.
Examination in natural light shows some retouching to the background to the left and right of the sitter that has slightly discoloured. A fine network of craquelure can be seen, most notably in the paler passages, such as the sitter's dress. The paint remains stable.
Examination under UV light shows relatively broad and extensive retouching to the background to the right of the sitter and to the background in the lower left corner. There is further broad retouching in her dress at the bottom, extending up to the level of her chest. There is some retouching in her hair and some more minor scattered retouching in the face. There is retouching along the four canvas edges, likely the result of previous frame abrasion. The whole is under a fine, even varnish.
