This canvas is supported on the reverse by a glue lining and is stable on its support. The paint layer is stable and slightly dirty under a varnish that has yellowed with age. There is a fine craquelure across the surface, especially visible in the darkest tones. The impastos in the figures sleeve have been nicely maintained. Inspection under ultraviolet light was impeaded by an opaque varnish. The painting presents well and can be hung in its current condition. The work is offered in a carved and gilt wood frame.
