FURTHER DETAILS
Mr Tan Sioe Hong (1916-1980), courtesy name Xingchang, was a renowned Indonesian entrepreneur of Yongchun, Fujian descent. In 1936, Mr. Tan traveled across the oceans and settled in Jakarta, starting as an ordinary shop assistant. Through decades of hard work, he built a thriving enterprise. Though living abroad, he always cared deeply for his homeland and actively contributed to public welfare, making numerous donations to his hometown. Today, the Tan Sioe Hong Memorial Hall stands in Yongchun in his honor. Mr. Tan had a passion for art and amassed an extensive collection of ink paintings and oil works. Some pieces were acquired directly from artists, while others focused on artworks related to Southeast Asia. His collection was both vast and exceptional, forming an impressive panorama of art.
