The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition, and the sheet adheres well to its underlying support. The horizontal edges of the sheet are deckled with a few soft creases in places and there are artist’s staple and pinholes to the edges in places. There is a minor historic loss to the upper centre extreme horizontal edge of the sheet, measuring approximately 2cm in length and possibly studio related. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no evidence of retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
