拍卖简介

Christie’s is pleased to announce the first New York edition of the online auction Living with African, Oceanic and North American Arts. This inaugural online sale takes place from 4 to 17 October.

The auction presents a rich selection of works from several important American collections, including the collection of Carol and Jerry Kenney. Introduced to African art by Ernst Anspach in the early 1970s, the couple patiently built a rare collection which tells the story both of their lasting friendship with Anspach as well as of their passion for art from this continent. Also of significant note is a group from the Gaston de Havenon collection, including an outstanding Hamatsa Raven Mask attributed to Willie Seaweed (circa 1873–1967), and a varied selection of impressive works from the Daniel P. Biebuyck collection. Lastly, one of the major highlights include a rediscovered Kota reliquary figure previously in the collection of interior designer William A. McCarty-Cooper.

The variety of artworks presented in this sale underlines the creativity of the artists, as well as the traditional and aesthetic
legacies of past generations, while highlighting the multiplicity of forms and meanings of these objects.

We look forward to welcoming you to our New York galleries at Rockefeller Center from 12 to 16 October, between 10am and 5pm, to explore these works in person.
