Christie’s is delighted to present Modern Collector: Design and Tiffany Studios, featuring Property from a Pacific Island Connoisseur. This online auction of 20th- and 21st-century designs by leading innovators and creators includes works by Tiffany Studios, Josef Hoffmann, Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, André Sornay, Les Lalanne, and more.

We have the distinct honour of presenting an extraordinary collection of art and design: Property from a Pacific Island Connoisseur. The collector seamlessly blended iconic Tiffany Studios lighting and nature-inspired George Nakashima furnishings with the Scandinavian designs of Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, and Greta Magnusson-Grossman. Highlights include Barbro Nilsson carpets executed by Märta-Måås Fjettersöm, Nakashima’s trestle dining table, and an early Josef Hoffmann drinkware set.

Also featured this season is the Property from an Important American Collection with rare works by Piero Fornasetti in collaboration with Gio Ponti, early René Lalique glass, and alluring glass designs by Laura de Santillana.

Modern masters are represented in the sale by pioneers of material and design, such as Gaetano Pesce’s resin chair for fashion house Etro; the fascinating galvanised metal jewellery designs of Claude Lalanne; and surreal works on paper by François-Xavier Lalanne.
