Comprising just over 200 lots with a focus on European decorative arts of the 18th and 19th century, our Two American Collections auction includes property from the Estates of Adolphus and Emily Andrews of San Francisco, California and Dr. Donald Bruce Wilson of Memphis, Tennessee. Dolph and Emmy Andrews were fixtures of San Francisco society, and their glittering Pacific Heights townhouse, furnished with the help of legendary California interior designers Michael Taylor and Anthony Hail, was filled with treasures, including a rare pair of marquetry table screens made for Joachim Murat, King of Naples and more recently in the collection of famed tastemaker Carlos de Beistegui, a pair of striking neo-classical late Louis XV console tables formerly in the Anna Thomson Dodge collection in her Grosse Pointe residence Rose Terrace, based on the Petit Trianon, and a charming collection of gold boxes, many in the form of hardstone animals.  An esteemed cardiologist, Dr. Bruce Wilson fell in love with the craftsmanship and history of the decorative arts of France, and notable lots from his collection include a superb Regence régulateur by André-Charles Boulle, a Louis XIV Savonnerie carpet and a sumptuous selection of Sèvres porcelain including examples originally made for Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI and the Duke of Hamilton. Sculpture, Old Master paintings and Chinese works of art can be found throughout the auction as well.
