The auction features over 600 lots representing the world’s most sought-after wines from the private cellar of Mr. Kotovsky, a passionate collector, who assembled a spectacular cellar over his lifetime. Wine for Mr. Kotovsky was about engagement, entertainment and enjoyment. A first generation American born of a Lithuanian mother and a Ukrainian father, Mr. Kotovsky was proud of his immigrant heritage. His interest in wine developed during his travels in Europe, specifically Paris, representing his Pittsburgh-based lighting business.
This broad collection covers some of the finest Bordeaux ever crafted; amongst the many highlights are multiple cases of 1st growths from vintages spanning the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Multiple back vintages of Petrus feature. A personal favourite for Irwin was Château La Lagune, the sale features a number of cases of the 1982 vintage, lovers of mature Claret please take note, this is an exceptional wine.
Mature Sauternes is also here in quantity with Château d’Yquem back to the 1955 vintage and some exceptional vintages of Châteaux Climens and Suduiraut from the 1930s. A remarkable feature of the sale is the vast array of mature white Burgundy including Domaine Leflaive, considered one of the finest producers of white Burgundy, offered in multiple vintages from the greatest sites. Rare vintages of Chevalier Montrachet from the 1996 1998 and 1999 being notable highlights. Lovers of Krug will be thrilled by the extensive offering of wines from this great producer of Champagne, alongside other rarities from Pol Roger, Ruinart and Dom Perignon.
