Lot Essay

It is understood that this is one of four electrotype copies produced in 1983 using moulds taken from the original helmet which is preserved in the British Museum. Of the four copies, three were destined for public display in museums in Lancashire, the Ribchester Museum and Carnuntum in Germany, the present Lot being the only example in private circulation.
